Why I Believe I Should Run for the Oklahoma Legislature:
1. Our present economic path of massive spending is putting our future at risk of economic bankruptcy. Fiscal irresponsibility (even by Republicans) is undermining our economic foundation, in both our federal and state governments. It is time we elect representatives who are serious about reigning in excessive spending, lest we and our children suffer the destructive consequences of our undisciplined behavior.
2. Government regulations and excessive taxation have led industries to move out of America, leaving us with only a shell of what was once a mighty industrial nation. This is extremely dangerous for our prosperity and security, for it leaves us vulnerable and dependent on other nations that are often hostile to our morals and ideas of liberty. Industry, and the assets it produces, is what makes a nation productive and economically strong. A strong Oklahoma industrial base benefits us all.
3. Our federal government has grown beyond its established constitutional limitations. This has created a condition of individual, local, and state bondage to the feds that is contrary to the principles of liberty, freedom and federalism. This is contrary to the Founding Fathers intent, and is destructive to our success as a nation. We need strong leadership that is willing to say "No" to unconstitutional mandates, and push to return to the founding principles that enabled America to become a great nation.
4. Pro-Family Values - a family is composed of one man and one woman who have mutually pledged themselves to each other for life. This man and woman pledge to care for, provide, protect, and be faithful to each other and their children. We need representatives who are pro-father, pro-mother, and pro-children. Abortion and other anti-family elements of our society are killing the family. Free societies require strong families if they are to remain free. Any legislation that is destructive to our families is destructive to America. I am 100% pro-life, from conception.
5. Lower, fairer taxes - The fruits of labor belong to the worker. Government should respect this and defend it.
6. Morality - I believe that there are moral absolutes, right and wrong, good and evil. When government leaders do not believe this, there is no limit to what their imaginations may justify - all in the name of good (as they define good). Where there is no standard, the end will always justify the means, and this destructive philosophy needs to be removed from our government. However, the role of civil government is not to define every detail of morality, but to seek a common justice for all.
7. Cultural values - While culture cannot be legislated, there are elements of legislation that have great cultural effects. Legislation must not punish individual responsibility, duty, and honor. These three core cultural values must be restored if we are to prosper.
